Support for young carers under 18

A young carer is someone aged 18 or under who looks after or helps to look after someone. It might be your mum or dad, grandparent, brother or sister or a close relative. This often means doing things like cooking, cleaning, shopping, giving medication or just talking and helping when the person you care about is feeling sad.

A day in the life of a young carer can look different for everyone but if some of the things above sound familiar, then you might be a young carer.

There is help and support for you through the Young Carers Service. They can talk to you and try to help work out what support you and your family might need.
